PRIVATE PILOT (INDEPENDENT STUDY)

Ready for Takeoff?
Ever dreamed of being in the pilot’s seat, controlling an aircraft thousands of feet above the ground? Now’s your chance to make that dream a reality. From flight simulators to real-world aviation knowledge, this course puts you on the runway toward earning your Private Pilot License — right in high school.

Course Description

This independent study course is designed for high school students who are serious about pursuing their Private Pilot License (PPL). Using the nationally recognized AOPA High School Aviation STEM curriculum, students will explore the fundamentals of flight, aviation weather, navigation, and aircraft systems — all while working toward FAA knowledge exam readiness.

The class meets on Monday afternoons with a dedicated aviation mentor available to guide students through content, answer questions, and support simulator sessions. While much of the course is self-paced, students will benefit from hands-on experiences using IGNITE Pathways’ state-of-the-art full-motion flight simulators, giving them an edge in both training and real-world readiness.

Students should expect to work independently through modules but will always have support from an instructor. This course provides a powerful jumpstart for students considering aviation as a future career or passion.
