This course will introduce students to the basics of strength and conditioning. Students will learn about a variety of topics related to this field of study.
Exercises to train major muscle groups
Anaerobic and aerobic energy metabolism and how to train both systems
Skeletal muscle fiber types
Physical adaptations to exercise
General training principles (progressive overload, specificity, overtraining, etc.)
Developing seasonal training regimens (i.e., periodization)
