The Network Administration program prepares students for employment in network administration. Students will demonstrate knowledge of design, installation, and maintenance of networks.
This program may be for you if you are interested in working in an IT Department, working with/installing servers, or providing network support to individuals or companies.
Students will learn how network and system administrators successfully implement and maintain interconnected computer systems. In a hands-on environment, students interact with IT professionals to learn how to integrate skills in a workplace setting.
Practical instruction includes managing local-area networks, wide-area networks, Internet and intranet connections, and other business-critical networks. Students will also explore what it takes to ensure necessary hardware is in working order and secure.

Students in the Network Administration program can earn a certification through Iowa Western Community College.
Network administrators are in a strong position in this economy. As computer networks become a more and more important part of business and communications, there’s a vast need in a wide variety of industries for professionals who can install, upgrade, and maintain these systems. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment opportunities are due to increase by 27% between 2006 and 2016. Entry level positions start at $24/hour or higher.

Cash, a Woodbine freshman, initially couldn’t participate in the IGNITE courses, as they were primarily designed for juniors and seniors. Despite the initial hurdle, IGNITE
personalized a course for Cash.
Cash now gets to take a deep dive into how computers work at their very foundation, and is completing a 6502 computer kit using breadboards, microchips, LEDs, and wires.
