BASICS OF WIRING

Gain a strong foundation in electrical wiring with Basics of Wiring, a hands-on course designed to teach students essential skills for residential and commercial construction. Students will learn how to identify and install various types of nonmetallic and metallic device boxes, select the right raceways and fittings, and follow National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements for conduit runs. 

Course Description

Basics of Wiring provides the students the knowledge of different types of nonmetallic and metallic device boxes available, how to determine the appropriate box for a given application and the appropriate method for mounting device boxes. Students learn how to identify and select various types and sizes of raceways and fittings along with the different methods of installation.

Topics of Study

  • Plan a conduit run according to NEC requirements.

  • Construct the conduit run using device boxes and bending techniques. (PG 2)

  • Use the appropriate fittings for cables and conductors.
