In Auto 4 at IGNITE Pathways, students will dive deep into the electrical, brake, and battery systems that keep vehicles running smoothly. This advanced course focuses on identifying electrical/electronic system components, understanding Ohm’s Law, and working with series, parallel, and series-parallel circuits. Students will also gain hands-on experience inspecting, removing, and replacing brake pads, lines, and flexible hoses while learning how to spot potential issues like leaks and wear.
This course provides instruction in automotive electrical and electronic systems. Emphasis is placed on troubleshooting and repair of advanced electrical and electronic systems, subsystems, and components.
Identify electrical/electronic system components and configurations.
Demonstrate knowledge of electrical/electronic series, parallel, and series-parallel circuits using principles of electricity (Ohm’s Law).
Identify brake system components and configurations.
Remove, inspect, and/or replace brake pads and retaining hardware.
Inspect brake lines, flexible hoses, and fittings for leaks, dents, kinks, rust, cracks, bulging, wear, and loose fittings/supports.
Confirm proper battery capacity, size, type, and application for vehicle; perform battery capacity and load test.
