The Auto 3 class at IGNITE Pathways takes automotive repair to the next level by diving deep into transmission systems. Students will gain hands-on experience in inspecting transmission fluid conditions, checking fluid levels, and identifying leaks in transmissions. They’ll learn to drain and replace fluid and filters, ensuring the use of the correct fluid type per manufacturer specifications. This course is perfect for aspiring mechanics seeking to master advanced automotive systems and deepen their understanding of critical vehicle components.
In this course, students will have the opportunity to learn about vehicle transmissions and how to diagnose issues in each. Students will also learn about transaxles and various components.
Inspect transmission fluid condition; check fluid level; inspect for leaks on transmission or transaxle not equipped with a dipstick.
Drain and replace fluid and filter(s); use proper fluid type per manufacturer specification.
Identify automatic transmission and transaxle components and configurations.
Inspect external manual valve shift linkage, transmission range sensor/switch, and/or park/neutral position switch.
Demonstrate knowledge of hydraulic principles
