This course provides students with a strong foundation in financial accounting by introducing key concepts such as the accounting equation, financial statements, and the accrual method. Using a balance sheet approach, students will explore essential topics including inventory valuation, internal controls, liabilities, and payroll. Through real-world applications and adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), this course equips students with the skills necessary to analyze financial transactions, manage assets, and evaluate financial data.
Principles of Accounting I is an IWCC course that introduces accounting fundamentals using the balance sheet approach and branches into journals, ledgers, financial statements, and developing the accrual method. Topics include inventory valuation and cost of goods sold, plant and equipment, internal control, current and long-term liabilities, receivables, interest, and payroll.
