Department of Defense To Complete Build of IGNITE Pathways Regional CTE Center

WOODBINE, IOWA (June 3, 2023): Reserve Citizen Airmen from the 307th Bomb Wing at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana traveled to Iowa to help complete the build of the new IGNITE Pathways Regional CTE Center (IPRC) at 6 W 7th Street Woodbine, Iowa on June 5, 2023. IGNITE Pathways is the first Regional CTE Center where students earn core credit towards graduation with year-round, work-based opportunities while acquiring skill development and certification towards high-demand jobs. IGNITE serves students in 7-12th grades as well as adult learners.

In fall of 2023, as part of the Iowa Guard annual training, members from the 185th ARW set up the privately donated 30,000 square foot TFS structure in Woodbine, Iowa. The fabric structure was built to house teams of U.S. military members traveling to the area to help construct a new IGNITE Pathways Regional CTE building already under construction in Woodbine June of 2023.

The Department of Defense's Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) program is a U.S. military reserve training opportunity that provides training and readiness for military personnel while addressing the needs of American communities. The Military is able to use this program to refine their engineering, health care, diving, and transportation skills by performing services and developing projects for communities.

“We look forward to hosting the IRT team and the opportunity to work alongside them to complete the IGNITE Pathways Regional Center in Southwest Iowa and so that we can make a commitment to today’s students, who are the next generation workforce. The IRT teams that will be arriving in Harrison County are expected to stay two weeks, starting the second week of June,” says Michelle Barry, Executive Director IPRC.
